The human brain becomes bigger over time

Researchers have recently discovered that the human brain may become larger over time. These are the results of a recent study that could help prevent and reduce the risk of dementia as a result of aging.
In an experiment, scientists at UC Davis Health found that people born in the 1970s had larger brains than those born in the 1930s.
In March, JAMA neurology journal published this study, according to which the brain volume of people born in the 1970s was 6.6% and its area was 15% more than those born in the 1930s.
Charles D. Carli, a professor of neurology from the University of California and the author of this research, says that genetics has a great influence on brain size, but other external factors such as health, social, cultural and educational factors can also have a significant effect on it.

These researchers concluded that the volume of the human brain is increasing slowly and continuously with a specific pattern through the tests they conducted on 3,226 people. According to them, this increase includes the gray area, white matter and the hippocampus of the brain, or the same area associated with learning and memory.
According to scientists, the results obtained from recent research can be promising because having a bigger brain means improved brain growth and health, as well as reducing Alzheimer’s and age-related dementia.
