Liz Truss is the new Prime Minister of Great Britain

Liz Truss was elected as the new leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. This choice was met with international reactions from a number of world leaders.

On Monday, the 5th of September, Truss was able to defeat his rival Rishi Sunak, the former minister of finance, in the race for the leadership of the conservative party.

Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, congratulated the election of Liz Truss and stressed that Truss must respect the agreements between the UK and the European Union, saying that London and Brussels must pursue their policies based on the agreements of the parties.

He further mentioned the challenges such as climate change and the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and said that we will take a constructive relationship in line with our agreement with mutual participation.

Liz Truss was a supporter of Britain’s exit from the European Union and had challenging views on the European Union.

Olaf Schultz, the Chancellor of Germany, regarding the selection of Liz Truss, said that he wants to cooperate with Liz Truss in this challenging situation, and the two countries, Germany and Great Britain, continue to work together as friends and partners.

Congratulating Truss as the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he is confident that under the leadership of Truss, the friendship and partnership between India and Britain will be strengthened. These two countries are currently connected within the framework of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Yair Lapid, Prime Minister of Israel, He mentioned Truss as his good friend and one of Israel’s great friends.

Boris Johnson also welcomed the election of Liz Truss and supported her plans and policies for the development of Britain, the reunification of the Conservative Party, tax cuts and lower living costs for British citizens.

Truss was elected as the prime minister while the UK is in an acute crisis and the rising cost of living has become a problem and the country has suffered an economic recession.

Liz Truss promises to fight these problems.
