Why do some people die in their sleep?

You must have thought about death and how it happens, but have you ever thought about why some of these people die in their sleep?

Research shows that the probability of dying while sleeping is less than when awake, and people who die while sleeping are probably suffering from a certain disease.

Diseases that cause people to die while sleeping are usually related to three specific body parts. According to Dr. Milind Suvani, a respiratory medicine consultant from the University of Nottingham, the three organs of the heart, brain and lungs are among the main reasons that cause people to die while they sleep. So that diseases related to these parts are one of the main causes of death during sleep.

When we are asleep, we cannot notice the occurrence of problems in our organs and we do not recognize the signals that indicate the occurrence of problems in the body. In other words, if we have a cardiac arrest while awake, we will fall to the ground after a few seconds and others will notice our situation and come to our aid, but if the same thing happens while sleeping, no one will notice until Your help will come.

How do heart problems cause people to die while sleeping?

Heart problems are the main reason for night deaths, so that 90% of deaths that happen at this time are related to cardiac arrest. People with vascular disease, irregular heartbeat, and an enlarged heart are more at risk of nocturnal deaths.

Sudden cardiac arrest causes the blood flow to the important organs of the body to be cut off, and if not treated quickly, it can lead to death. 22% of cardiac arrests occur between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. It should be noted that this percentage is even higher for women than for men.

How much does pulmonary disease affect death at night?

Another part of the body, after the heart, has the greatest impact on night deaths, is the lungs. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or cessation of breathing is another cause of death in sleep. In obstructive sleep apnea, oxygen is deprived in the human body and death occurs when oxygen does not reach the body during sleep. People with this disease are 2.5 times more likely to die suddenly than others.

Snoring, headache, frequent urination at night, sweating while sleeping and obesity are the most important symptoms of this disease.

How effective are brain diseases in night deaths?

The most common brain disease that causes sudden death is epilepsy. In this disease, people have successive seizures. People who cannot fully treat their seizures with medication are at greater risk of sudden death.

Although the main cause of this disease is not yet known, it is said that this disease occurs mostly at night. Even some research shows that sleep can increase the risk of this disease to some extent.

Another brain disease that causes sudden death is stroke. 25% of strokes occur during sleep. The cause of a stroke is a clot or a ruptured blood vessel that prevents blood from reaching the brain. If oxygen is not supplied properly, the brain cells die and the parts of the body that affect the control areas of the brain no longer do their job properly, which causes death in people.
