Director of the World Food Program: Urgent help is needed to save millions of people in Afghanistan

The executive director of the United Nations World Food Program, who visited Afghanistan, says that the world’s worst humanitarian crisis is happening in Afghanistan. David Beasley announced efforts to address this crisis and said: “We urgently need $230 million a month to provide food for more than 22 million people.”

The United Nations World Food Program had previously warned that if immediate action is not taken, millions of Afghan citizens will face hunger and famine in the coming winter.

At the same time, the International Organization for the Protection of Children reported that about 14 million Afghan children are suffering from hunger
