Warning about the outbreak of a new strain of Corona in 2023

Tim Spector, a genetic epidemiologist in London and a professor at King’s College London, warned about the spread of a new strain of the corona virus.

According to Sky News and quoted by Independent, in America, the number of people infected with this strain has increased more than 2 times in one week. Also, in China, the number of corona cases is increasing alarmingly.

Spector’s team has said that this could be a new strain of the corona virus and we should take the necessary precautions and measures.

The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention has announced that as of Friday, December 30, 2022, more than 40 percent of people infected with the corona virus in this country were XBB 1.5. Similarly, 75% of the cases of Covid-19 in the North-East of America were from this strain.

According to Prof. Spector, the XBB strain could be a new type of micron that we should watch out for in 2023.

The XBB 1.5 strain is a new mutant strain of Omicron that first broke out in India in August 2022. This strain has been observed in 70 countries of the world so far, and according to reports, it is most prevalent in India and Singapore.

According to studies, this strain is resistant to antibodies caused by previous infections and vaccines of Covid-19.

However, Dr. Meera Chand, a clinical infectious disease specialist, said that vaccination is the best defense against the disease and it is better for people to receive all doses of the vaccine as soon as possible.

The symptoms of the XBB strain are almost similar to the previous strains, and in some cases, it is accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting, problems with the sense of smell and taste, shortness of breath, headache, body pain, fatigue, fever, and chills.
